The protagonist of this adventure. A recently promoted senior bracer with a bubbly personality and a never-give-up spirit. Five years ago her father, Cassius, brought home a young boy named Joshua who quickly became like a brother to her and eventually much more. Well-trained in martial arts, she wields a bo-style staff with incredible ease – despite the fact that its length is greater than her own height.
A young man with a dark past adopted into the Bright family five years ago. His jet-black hair and amber-colored eyes give him a cool, somewhat distant appearance. His current whereabouts are unknown.
A no-nonsense, in-your-face bracer known to his peers (for obvious reasons) as the "Heavy Blade." Swings around a disproportionately huge sword with ease, intimidating onlookers with his plainly obvious might. His surly demeanor can make him a bit hard to approach, but he has a huge soft spot for small, mechanically inclined girls.
A striking bracer with a circus troupe past known to her peers by the nickname "Silver Streak." Trained under Cassius and mentor to Estelle, Joshua, and Anelace. Employs a whip and enjoys a good drink or ten.
A burly martial artist from the Calvard Republic in the east and an A-rank bracer known as the "Unmoveable." Has a kindly, big brother-esque demeanor. Is fond of training and drinking.
A traveling musician from Erebonia and professed "Hunter of Love." Proficient in every instrument from piano to lute—and he loves to flaunt that fact. Few are more narcissistic than he, and his abundance of self-confidence often mixes with his tendency toward absurdly inappropriate speech and behavior for an unfortunate cocktail of mischief and mayhem.
A skilled swordsman in the Imperial Army and military advisor to the diplomatic attaché in Grancel. Has a second, less illustrious, job as Olivier's minder. The suffering brought on by this babysitter-like role is etched onto his face.
A student at the Jenis Royal Academy in Ruan and close friend of Estelle's. On her days off, she helps out at the local orphanage, and is regarded by the children there as a reliable, gentle and kind young woman. Has a pet falcon named Sieg who always remains by her side.
A prominent member of the Royal Guardsmen and skilled swordswoman. Personally trained by Cassius, she is also an excellent pilot and commands the helm of the royal family's pride, the Arseille. Has a protective, sisterly relationship with Kloe.
Professor Russell's granddaughter, and a real orbal prodigy. Has a bright, innocent personality that ensures she's well-regarded by just about everyone she meets. She also has a somewhat obsessive love of technology, and tends to tune out the world around her when in the presence of machinery.
A carefree, wandering priest of questionable piety dispatched from Arteria to help preach in the rural areas of Liberl. His fashion sense may raise some eyebrows, but his relentless charm usually wins people over in the end. Wields a crossbow with surprising skill for a man of the cloth.
Granddaughter of a famous swordsman and recently promoted senior bracer. A bit of an airhead, but proficient in combat. Has a friendly rivalry with Estelle and an unholy love of cute things.
A senior B-rank bracer that uses a spear and wields unique Eastern magic known as "Fangshu." Has a gentle personality and often serves as mentor and teacher to the Guild's younger bracers.
Tita's grandfather, and an orbal scholar living in the factory city of Zeiss. A protégé of Professor Epstein's, the man who originally developed orbment technology, and a mad genius. Directly responsible for the advent of orbment processing and crafting. Becomes so enthralled during the creative process that he blanks out the world around him (much like his granddaughter!).
The ruler of Liberl. A skilled diplomat and shrewd negotiator. Queen Alicia has steered her kingdom through many conflicts and managed to attain both the upper hand and spearhead stability in the region despite Liberl's relatively small status compared to its more powerful neighbors.
The portly nephew of Queen Alicia. Has aspirations to take the throne, and was involved in the failed coup. Is currently being held under house arrest at the Erbe Royal Villa attended by his loyal servant, Phillip Runall. Loves donuts and trashy magazines. Famous for his terrible haircut.
Estelle's father. A former S-rank bracer and military legend. Known as the "Divine Blade" for his unmatched skills with a sword. Is currently back in the Royal Army helping to reorganize and rebuild the infrastructure following the failed coup. Holds the rank of general.
Formerly a colonel in the Royal Army, Richard was stripped of his rank following the failed coup in the capital. He's currently being held in detention at Leiston Fortress.
Once Colonel Richard's right hand woman and a captain in the Royal Army, Kanone was also stripped of her rank following the coup attempt. She currently remains at large with the remnants of the scattered Intelligence Division.
A skilled reporter for the Liberl News. Perpetually sports a 5 o'clock shadow, and smokes like a chimney. Constantly explores every nook and cranny of Liberl by airliner in search of the perfect scoop. When teamed up with Dorothy, he's always on top of his game— though often a bit out of sorts, as well.
A photographer for the Liberl News, and a total airhead. Lives life at her own pace and seems to enjoy every minute of it. Her skill with the camera, though, is absolutely exceptional.
Erebonian outcasts who turned to piracy. Led by siblings Don, Kyle, and Josette Capua, they terrorized Liberl's airspace until captured in a joint Bracer Guild/Royal Army operation. The group was under lock and key at the time of the royal Birthday Celebration, but they seem to have escaped since then...
A mysterious group with sinister motives. Their numbers, abilities, and whereabouts are uncertain, but they are known to employ vicious mercenaries known as Jaegers. They seem to be behind the strange events occurring in Liberl, and might even have something to do with the coup itself.
